Each term, between six and eight courses will be taught. Lectures are held every day, Monday to Friday from 10am until 1pm and the afternoons are free for laboratories. There will be significant emphasis on theory rather than on media and software applications.
A custom-built multimedia laboratory is available for the students of this MSc in order to become familiar with multimedia applications and to work on a final project which is a requirement for the degree. Each student has access to a multimedia PC and specialised media capture and editing facilities.
The course is full-time and will be run over a twelve month period. Lecture courses will be given throughout the three terms and examinations will take place in May/June. Students will undertake significant course work, especially in the first and second terms.
Starting in Hilary Term, each student will commence a research project and a dissertation will be submitted in the following September. In order to qualify for an MSc. students must pass five examinations and obtain at least 50% for the final project and dissertation.
